The special exhibition "Departing People, Departing Islands" is curated by the National Museum of Taiwan History, exploring the definition and imagination of "Taiwan." Starting with the statement "I am Taiwanese," the exhibition questions whether this phrase can truly unite a common consensus and examines whether it holds the same power for people outside of Taiwan's main island. Through the concept of "departure," the exhibition rethinks and challenges the fixed imagination of "Taiwan," redefining it from political, economic, cultural, and social perspectives.

The exhibition design emphasizes both the tangible and intangible sense of isolation that comes with island life, creating various situational spaces around the stories of people. Visitors will feel as if they are traversing through memory fragments of these stories, deeply experiencing how people confront and interpret various events.
