2017.06.27-2017.12.03

The National Museum of Taiwan History, in collaboration with Japan’s National Museum of Japanese History, delves into the similarities and differences in the earthquake histories of Taiwan and Japan. The exhibition approaches the topic from various angles, including myths and legends, historical contexts, and disaster relief systems, reflecting on the role museums can play as institutions that preserve cultural memory in the face of disasters.

-

The exhibition design features calm and composed display cases paired with warm, hope-representing lighting, carefully handling the emotional significance of each artifact. This thoughtful presentation allows visitors to gain a more objective understanding and reflection on the history of earthquakes, while also highlighting the museum’s role in preserving the emotional connection people have to their homeland.
