Exploring Tiny Wonders
A Journey into Quantum Science
National Museum of Natural Science
2025.06.14-2026.04.14
This exhibition is centered around the concept of “entering the imaginative world of physicists.” It invites visitors to explore how these brilliant minds think, how they arrive at astonishing insights, and how they question, challenge, and reshape the classical physics once believed to be unshakable.
-
Visitors enter the exhibition through a portal inspired by the double-slit experiment. Inside, enlarged images of physicists fill the space, making visitors feel as though they’ve been miniaturized—transformed into tiny particles being observed by scientists. The whispered questions and internal monologues of these scientists guide the audience into their unique viewpoints and the collisions of their thoughts.
-
As particles themselves, visitors step into a supersized experimental environment. Through each recreated phenomenon, they gradually discover the development of quantum mechanics and the stories behind its breakthroughs. By peering through a telescope at cats on Earth and the Moon, they experience the bizarre, instantaneous connection of quantum entanglement. A physical reimagining of the double-slit experiment allows them to personally witness the mysterious interference patterns. Inside Schrödinger’s experiment box, they encounter the paradoxical cat that is both alive and dead, deepening their understanding of quantum superposition.
-
The exhibition also uses AI technology to recreate the famous philosophical debate between Albert Einstein and Niels Bohr, helping visitors better grasp the fundamental divide between their viewpoints. In the final section, the exhibition returns to the philosophical questions underpinning quantum mechanics, challenging visitors to reflect: Do you side with Bohr, or with Einstein? Finally, guests are invited to step into a recreation of the historic Solvay Conference photo—becoming part of this great intellectual exchange.
